Jun 17, 2009  Thanks Shakeyplace, Finally i installed Windows 7 RC 32 Bits without the pci card (via raid sata controller), and after the OS was installed, i put the pci card inside of my computer (canceling the default OS driver installation, and installing the VIA SATA Drivers Version 3249 downloaded from the official VIA website). Can someone tell me how to integrate the. VT6421/VT6410/VT6420/VT8237 ComboRAID Driver. SATA drivers to my 64Bit XP VLK? The lastest Drivers can be download here. This page contains the drivers installer for VIA Technologies Inc VIA VT6421 RAID Controller for Windows 7 64 bit, the hardware/chipset supported by this driver are: PCI VEN_1106&DEV_3249&CC_0104, PCI VEN_1106&DEV_3249&CC_0104, etc. I have a VT6421 based raid controller. Lspci shows this: 00:0a.0 RAID bus controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. nVT6410 IDE/RAID Adapter

uIt supports RAID 0, 1, 0+1 andJBOD if it is configured as a RAID controller.

The supported platforms are described in System Requirementsection.

Hardware

This package should beinstalled on the system with VIA NorthBridge, SouthBridgeand peripheral chipsets. The setup program will not support to be installed onother vendor chipsets.

There are two operation modes, Windows UI and command line, to executeinstallation and remove. The most popular is the Windows UI mode that providesconvenient user interface and systematic operation. The command line mode, alsocalled as silent mode, need user append more parameters behind SETUP.EXE asanswer to make the setup program silence without pop any dialogs.

There are possible two types setup package you may have. One iscompressed as a zip file includes visible setup and driver files. Another oneis made as a self-extracted-execution file. In the following, we will show youthe steps to complete driver installation and remove with both package types.

Windows UI mode

If the downloaded file isZIP-compressed format, please extract it to proper location in your hard diskfirst. Then launch the SETUP.EXE by double-clicking. Otherwise, you coulddouble-click the self-extracted-execution file and wait for few seconds for theself-extraction. The extracted file will be deleted automatically after setuphas been terminated.

First time execution

If it is the first time toexecute the setup package, you will only have the choice of installation.

Maintenance

After the first timeexecution, you could have choice to make Update and Remove. You will see twooptions, Update and Remove in the first shown dialog. If you are going toupdate the driver, please active the Update radio button and press next buttonto enter next steps. Else, if you are going to remove the installed driver inyour system, please active the Remove radio button and press next button toenter next steps.

Control PanelAddRemove Programs

There is another path toremove the installed driver is to go through “Add Remove Programs” service ofcontrol panel. An uninstall item is added after install ,VIA Platform Device Manager, to handle all the installed VIA driver components.

Silent mode

The silent mode are usuallyapplied to system maintainer for servicing hundreds systems that wont haveinteractive user interface. They would execute the setup through command linein console or batch file execution without closing any popped dialog popped orpressing next buttons. In addition, the command line parameters of these twotypes of downloaded file format get few differences.

ZIP-Compressed Package

In this type package, youcould see a setup.exe in those extracted files. User could append parametersbehind setup.exe as command line in console.

The presentcommand line parameters are: -s and /z'reboot;remove:xx,yy,zz'

Parameter

Description

-s

It is a required command line parameter to enable silent mode operation. If this parameter is missed, the setup

-zParam1;K;ParamN

It passes predefined parameters to SETUP.EXE. Each parameter, Param1;K;ParamN, should be separated with semicolons.

The predefined sub-parameters are:

reboot

It causes Setup.exe automatically to reboot after the silent mode operation completed.

remove

It is a switch to cause Setup.exe to remove components. If this parameter is absent, then SETUP.EXE will install components.

kompnt:xx,yy,zz

It is an optional parameter to assign specific component in this package to be install/remove.

The xx,yy,zz should be replaced with component name in which is defined as same as the component folder name of this package.

Via Vt6421 Raid Controller Driver Win7 Windows 10

Windows Pre-OSinstallation Floppy Disk (F6 Installation)

Under Windows 2000 and later OS, while user intends to install OS on thedisk attached on the RAID controller, they have to prepare a floppy driver diskincluding the pre-OS installation files and press “F6” while boot CD is starting.

The driver disk files had been prepared in this package. Please followthe steps to prepare it.

1.Make sure the target system isalready install floppy drive

2.Prepare a empty and validfloppy disk

3.Copy all files under DRVDISKto the floppy without losing

4.Power on the target machine andboot from the Boot CD. And press “F6”while the prompt appear on the button line

5.After the booting process askyou to insert the floppy disk, please insert the prepared floppy disk to thefloppy drive and press enter

6.Choose the proper item to fitthe OS and RAID controller you are installing. Each item shows the matched OSfor it.

Limitation:

þRAID5solution for VT8251 only supports Windows 2000 and later version. Win9x, NT4platforms are not supported.

Application Compatibility:

To create the driver disk for Windows installation, you need to copy the contents of the folder named DriverDisk in the zip file, but not the folder itself - just the contents. Please note that Windows 7 support is not included for the VT8237, VT8237R, VT8237R Plus and VT6410. Please also note that installing this driver on Windows 7 (32 and 64) will not update the driver, it will only update the RAID utility.
